The Environment
Our product line is modern and elegant yet environmentally friendly. We are committed to give those customers that are socially responsible like us an option to share their news in style–without sacrificing quality, creativity but especially without speckles, seedlings or flower inserts in their invitations or announcements paper. Our products will give customers an opportunity to make a personal and social statement!
Paper.
Our invitations and announcements are printed on 100% cotton paper made from recovered cotton materials from the textile industry. Cotton is a renewable resource, recyclable and totally tree-free. Cotton fibers are naturally whiter, brighter and more durable than wood fibers. Since cotton contains very little lignin (the compound that makes tree trunks sturdy) and is alpha-cellulose it requires far less water and chemical processing than do papers made from wood, making it energy efficient.
Enclosures.
The enclosures that compliment our wedding invitations all have 30% recycled content and the pulp used comes from 100% certified sustainable forests, so nothing is taken from the environment that is not given back. Also, the paper mill is located on a river and uses hydroelectricity.
Stickers.
Our labels are printed on a specialty stock that is comprised of 100% Total Recycled Fiber and 30% Post-Consumer Waste. They also feature environmentally clean adhesive and release system.
Printing.
The printing of our products is done using soy and other vegetable-based inks, which are less harmful to the environment than their petroleum-based counterparts. There are several types of vegetable-based printing inks, including linseed (Flax), tung (Chinawood), castor, canola, and safflower. Soy is popular because it is a very stable material that exhibits excellent "wetting" properties, which enhance its ability to carry solid pigments. Most manufacturers of soy and vegetable based inks today actually "blend" ingredients, in order to take advantage of the unique characteristics of each oil.
By implementing these practices, we are doing our part to help the environment in the following ways:
• Saving an approximate of 24 trees per each ton of paper
• Reducing waste
• Saving energy
• Reducing water usage
Letterpress.
Letterpress began in Europe in the 14th century. It is a process in which the raised surface of the type is inked and then pressed against a smooth substance to obtain an image in reverse. Letterpress offers a tactile experience that can’t be achieved with any other technique.
This extraordinary process combined with the use of soy-based inks, gives our products a certain distinction, but more importantly, makes them eco-friendly.
